History of Zimbabwe

Rhodesia is of course the story that territory from 1890 to 1980, and from this we have extracted a story from the Liberation Struggle.

The Book looks also at the Missionaries and their place in development, the impact of World War 2 through a story about my grandfather, Corvée labour and the Arlantic Charter, Bishop Lamont and Ian Smith, and the Liberation Struggle.

The final part, Zimbabwe, brings us up to date in March 2008. From this section we have selected an extract from the story of of a lunch with Robert and Sally Mugabe, both central to the success story of Zimbabwe in the first fifteen years of its life.

The Book reviews as well the "Bobbies in the Bush" at Independence, Gukuruhundi and the Fifth Brigade, the success story of the first decade of independence, the main players in the drama like Mugabe himself, his wife Sally, Muzenda, Zvobgo, Mutumbuka and others; and closes with the droughts, ESAP and the resultant economic collapse, and a short chapter on Morgan Tsvangirai.
